Overview
K-Soft has helped more than 50 of its clients globally to
cost effectively migrate to new technologies while extending
the life cycle of their functionality rich existing/legacy
systems. Projects include re-engineering software to migrate
applications legacy systems to client/server architectures,
to extend existing applications to the Internet, to migrate
from existing applications to UNIX or Windows NT, or to update
from a non-relational to a relational database technology.
In today's dynamic business environment, it is critical to
know when to adopt new technology and when to keep current
applications in place. The challenge is to understand when
doing business in the current environment has become more
painful than the task of migrating to a new environment. Legacy
Migration is an opportunity to align business processes more
closely with new IT capabilities.
The scope of the migration can vary: porting of legacy application
software (3GL code, user-interface, and middleware), database
conversion, web-enabling, or turnkey migration to a new operating
system or platform.
One can web-enable the legacy OLTP applications, e.g. replacing
the middleware by a J2EE or Windows compliant application
server and redesign the user-interface with OO (Microsoft
.Net Apps, Java, VB or C++ etc.), making the application available
for enterprise application integration and e-business.
